The Russell Oneida has been continuously produced since the early 1900's, and during World War II, was purchased by the U.S. Government for workers producing Dirigible Balloons. The smooth but tough molded leather outsoles prevented any tears in the fabric as the balloons were produced. After more than 100 years, we have found quite a few more uses for this utilitarian design. After a day in the field, it is the perfect shoe to wear around the camp or lodge. The heavyweight Bullhide leather Molded Sole provides plenty of protection while maintaining excellent ground-feel. It is for this reason that the Oneida makes a wonderful driving moccasin, and many bowhunters bring a pair for situations when silent stalking is necessary. Factory resoleable.
