The first of our Made-To-Order program, this boot gives you a broader range of customization in size, width, leather, and sole options. Joe's "PH" has become the favorite variation of Russell's famous "PH" line. Proven in Africa, it has also garnered a strong following stateside for summertime hiking. The cushion collar provides comfort and a seal against dust, while the green twill quarters woven in Scotland keep the boot light and breathable. Solid brass lacing studs in the top three eyelets are standard to speed up morning lacing. Between the Molded sole and the Vamp is a built-in Poron slip sole that provides added comfort and shock protection. Joe's "PH" is traditionally paired with a Vibram Newporter sole with 1/4" wedge heel lift that prevents foot bridging and fatigue when walking in soft sand. In addition we have our classic Aspen Gumlite sole and Lactae Hevea Plantation Crepe sole available. The Aspen Gumlite is a staff favorite across our product line as it's light weight and moderate traction make it a great sole for a variety of terrains. The Lactae Hevea Plantation Crepe is a natural rubber sole made by hand in France. It provides an incredibly quiet and comfortable sole for flat ground walking.
Typically we use Horween Chamois leather for our PH boots. It is a soft, yet hard wearing leather from one of America's best tanneries. Both Loden Green and Wheat Chamois are available.
Brown Timberjack is also an option for this Made-To-Order run. Timberjack is a smooth full grain leather that has excellent water resistance and durability. While the PH is not a wet weather boot, this option is an great choice for hikers who are likely to encounter small streams and wet trails.
