Field-tested in Africa with “rave” recommendations, the Safari is a high scorer for those wanting an extremely lightweight, comfortable and breathable boot for the outdoors and daily wear. The Scottish cotton twill used for the quarters is stout and durable – yet gives the feet a chance to “breathe”. The Safari is a single vamp moccasin construction featuring Russell's unique hand-lasted & hand-sewn Overlap toe seams.
As a Made-To-Order Boot, this gives you a broader range of customization in size, width, leather, and sole options. Pictured above, the Safari is paired with a Lactae Hevea wedge sole, Brown Scottish Twill, and Red Maple Oil tan leather. The Lactae Hevea sole is made by hand in France from the Hevea milk of the rubber tree. It provides an incredibly quiet and comfortable sole for flat ground walking. In addition we have our classic Aspen Gumlite sole available. The Aspen Gumlite is a staff favorite across our product line as it's light weight and moderate traction make it a great sole for a variety of terrains.
Nutmeg Waxy Oil Tan If you are looking for a leather with a great pull up, a rich color, and lots of natural character, Nutmeg waxy Oil-tan is a great choice. This full-grain leather has a waxy, but matte finish that will continue to darken over time.
Pecos Chamois Leather. Arguably our toughest outdoor leather, Pecos has a velvety nubuck finish that makes it extremely wear resistant. For boots that will be in rocky environments, this is a great choice.
Horween Rust Laramie. Used on our Roughout Vellie, Rust Laramie is undoubtedly one of our favorite leathers for a casual boot or shoe. The flesh side of the leather has been knapped and is seen on the exterior of the boot, while the grain side is facing the interior of the boot. Roughout is great for casual wear, and is highly practical for travel due to it's supple glove like feel and low maintenence.
Red Maple Oil Tan (Pictured). Our classic full-grain oil tan leather that is a time tested choice on the Safari. The staple color, great patina, and soft feel makes it a great everyday leather that can be dressed up when the occasion warrants.
The order window will be May 26th through June 26th. Orders are estimated to ship in September. Please note that Made-To-Order boots are not returnable or refundable as they are made specifically to your order. Colors may vary due to your screen and natural variations in the materials.
What is Made-To-Order?
One of the things we all love about Russell is the ability to customize their look with different leathers and soles. We are making this process more streamlined, and less confusing, by offering Made-To-Order models in standard sizing on the website. Made-to-order will give you custom options for different leathers and soles at a comparable price to our in-stock models and a much quicker turnaround than the Will Russell custom shop. Each boot or shoe will have its own leather and sole options selected due to their properties and the purpose of the boot. Due to the fact that these boots are custom made for you, they are non-returnable.
If you don't know your Russell size, ordering an in-stock boot to check the fit is a great way to find out, which is why stock pairs can be returned or exchanged.
