The Boot

Introduced in the early 1900s, and originally known as the Chief, the Turkey Hunter has one of the longest histories in outdoor footwear. Modified with Bottomland Camo from our friends at Mossy Oak, the Russell Turkey Hunter combines traditional construction with modern performance. At 16" tall, the boot covers the legs from knee down, providing a defense against ticks, brush, and wet environments. This boot has ben field proven by the best of the best in the Turkey Hunting community since it's inception in the 1980's. If you are looking for athletic comfort, concealment, and durability, the Turkey Hunter is the boot for you.

Important Calf Size Fitting Information

Measure the circumference of your calf at 15" high off the floor. If you plan to tuck your pants into the boot, measure the circumference of your calf with the pants on. Below are the calf measurements that correspond to the boot size. Use the digital sizing tool to help determine your boot size, then check the below calf measurements to ensure that your calf will also fit the boot.

• Size 6 fits calf size of 13 & 5/8" to 15 & 5/8" 
• Size 7 fits calf size of 14 & 1/8" to 16 & 1/8" 
• Size 8 fits calf size of 14 & 1/4" to 16 & 1/4" 
• Size 9 fits calf size of 14 & 3/4" to 16 & 3/4" 
• Size 10 fits calf size of 15" to 17"

The Leather

Made from our classic water-resistant, full-grain Weathered Oak Timberjack leather, The Turkey Hunter is protective, water resistant, and incredibly durable. Weathered Oak Timberjack is a full grain leather tanned at S.B. Foot in Minnesota specially for Russell Moccasin. Over time it reveals light brown undertones and develops a rich patina. Stuffed with waxes and oils, Timberjack has a beautiful pull-up and is easily maintained with an occasional conditioning with Obenaufs. 

The Construction

The Turkey Hunter is made with our famous Double Vamp Moccasin construction. This construction makes the lower part of the boot highly water-resistant and provides extra durability. The Turkey Hunter is 16" tall and features oak-leather heel counters for stability in unsteady terrain. The whole boot is lined in a highly water-resistant leather to keep your legs dry when sitting in wet areas.

The Sole

For the 2024 edition of the Turkey Hunter, we have chosen a aggressive, but widely spaced Vibram Sierra outsole with the same heel lift as our PH boots. This combination is protective, comfortable, and is flexible for quiet stalking. While aggressive enough for mountain turkey hunts, the wide spaced tread helps keep mud from caking in wet bottoms.

What the Turkey Hunter is NOT

The Turkey Hunter is not a snake boot. It doesn’t have a snake proof lining and we do not warrant it as snake proof. The reasons for this are too many to count but suffice it to say that we are much too small a company to take on the liability of producing snake boots.

This boot is a Classic Build, meaning that upon your order it will be put into production on a 8-12 week lead time.

Sizing Confidence: By ordering this boot you understand that if the fit is too large or small, you can exchange it within 30 days of delivery in unworn condition and we will put another pair into production for you in an adjusted size of your choice. Exchanges are limited to 1 per order and the production timeline for the second pair will be 8-12 weeks. Classic Builds are non-refundable.
