Combining the rugged good looks of the Cavalier, with several modifications for everyday convenience, the Zephyr was the original zipper-back moccasin. A brass YKK zipper above the heel provides added on-and-off speed and permits snugger fit around the leg than it's Cavalier forefather. Made from our classic Red Maple Oil-tan leather, this boot is equally at home in the field or at the office.
New for 2023, the Zephyr now has increased heel reinforcement to help prevent heel slip. Internally the Zephyr has been upgraded from Single Vamp to Russell's signature Double Vamp construction for added water resistance. (See the Process Page for details).Between the inner and outer vamp, we have added a Poron slip sole that gives cushion to the footbed for all day comfort.
The sole construction features an oak-leather midsole and a rubber liner midsole. This new "double midsole" does a much better job of stiffening the arch for better support and is designed to ensure the Zephyr can be easily resoled throughout the life of boot. Beneath the midsole is a classic Vibram Oxford outsole. The low profile and classic looks of this sole combination make it great for pairing with business casual attire. Since the Zephyr is designed for flat to mild terrain, the minimal tread of the Oxford also helps prevent mud from caking on the sole.
As always, the handsewn Russell Overlap seams on the toe pieces provide a water resistant and sporty exterior. With all these features now standard, the Zephyr continues to be our undisputed "daily driver".
