We have taken the classic 7" Russell Hiker to the max resulting in a boot that is ready for any adventure in the backcountry. From stalking elk and rams to summiting 14ers, this is a Russell made for distance and durability. American Bison is unique among leathers due to its combination of durability and softness. The natural pebbling brought out by the tanning process follows the contours of the hide’s grain resulting in varying pattern that is stunning in our classic Bird Shooter pattern. These full-grain hides are tanned in Wisconsin at Law tannery. Hikers will appreciate the hand molded oak leather heel counters, which help lock the foot in place and prevent walkover. This boot also features Double Vamp Moccasin construction. Unique to Russell Moccasin, this technique provides the maximum water resistance an all leather boot can achieve, while providing superior comfort. Inside the boot is a poron sock lining for shock absorption. We recommend all our customers have a Backcountry in their closet as it one of our most capable and versatile boots.

Great Boot

I love the boots. Build quality is very obvious. The sizing process needs some work. I wanted an 11D in a back country and the only one you had was a second. Not making those returnable is dumb, they are already seconds, what’s the harm in me trying one on? Finally you had a last chance 11D to pop up after a few weeks but it was clearly a custom order that somebody returned because it was a bison with the PH style sole. It all worked out in the end but maybe change that policy, or at least explain it beside “that’s our policy”. Left a bad taste

Cognac Bison Backcountry Boot

Just received my Bison Backcountry boots. Opened the box and I was instantly impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. This is something you just don't see much of these days, with everything being mass-manufactured in foreign countries with cheap materials. I am always willing to pay more for hand-crafted items, and these Russell Moccasins are no exception. The fit and comfort are also representative of the build quality and are exceptional as well. I have several other high quality brands of handmade boots; but these are, by far, the absolute best. I make no reservation in saying I believe these boots will outlast me. Heirloom quality that's worth the investment.
