MODEL DETAILS

The South 40 is a Double Vamp with a Molded Sole construction, commonly referred to as Triple Vamp, which is the most water resistant and durable construction we offer. This version made from Pecos Gaucho leather also boasts a fully leather-lined upper and quick lacing studs. Pecos is a chamois leather, meaning the grain surface has been knapped to a velvety finish that repels water and handles abrasion from rocks and brush extremely well. It is for this reason we use it in our extreme hunting boots.

To make long days in the field a joy, we built in a poron technical foam layer between the molded sole and the vamps. This shock absorbing layer softens up the walk considerably, a feature you will enjoy at the end of a long day. The South 40 also has an oak-leather heel counter, which locks your foot in place to help prevent against rolling an ankle. Underfoot, we fitted the South 40 with a low profile Vibram 360 Force sole that provides better balance, stability and ground feel. 9" high

What a boot!!!!!

Words cannot even describe how comfortable this boot is. I’ve worn everything from red wing to custom cowboy boots and this boot takes the top spot of comfort. As soon as I laced them up and stood I could feel my heel completely lock into place. The leather is soft and supple and the width allows for the foot to lay naturally. I went a half size down from my true size on a Brannock. When measured at a 10.5 I ordered a size 10 and they’re perfect. Every stitch is perfect! Russell has a customer for life after buying these!

Made like an Abrams Tank but feels like a dream.

I have recently purchased two boots from Russell without knowing a lot about the company or their boots. I only wished that I had known about this amazing company a lot sooner. Both the boots I have purchased feel great and are extremely well made. I decided to purchase these boots because I was sure my size would not be available later. It turns out this was a great decision. These boots are made incredibly well and the leather is extremely thick, meaning they will hold up for me, my son, and my grandson. They are made that well. Yes, I know I already have three boots to wear but I am already thinking about having a custom premier pair made. I never realized that quality of this caliber was still made right here in America. This company know how to make boots.

Great boot. After a few wears I can tell that these will be the best boots that I have owned to date. I am approaching 60 years old and I am done with buying short lived footwear. I justified the expense by portioning $30 per year for 25 years at 0% APR. Well done!

More Birdshooter Versions!! Please bring back the toe cap.

Just came unto your website, it appears all the birdshooter versions of your boots are being retired? I hope you bring back more of the birdshooter style boots, 9" height. Do bring back the old toe cap, all my boots all seem to suffer a lot of damage to the toes. I also prefer the lace up rings better than the studs, just my opinion. I've purchased Russell boots in the past and my take is they are excellent boots.
