My PHs are now 6 months old. I wore them out the front door of the Berlin school/shoe factory and haven't worn another shoe since. I had a fail on the computer sizing process of my PHs and Chelsea expertly assisted me with one of the last pair (standard pinking top) of Horween leather PHs.
I have spent my life outdoors and this is the best way I can condense what these PHs are; they are like lace up house slippers with just the right, for me, cushion and tread. Never any pressure at the top, great for driving. I'm sitting in a recliner right now, have been for a couple of hours, with my boots on. I can't say that about any other pair of boots or shoes I've ever owned. No, I would not carry a 40-pound pack across a 2-mile scree slope in these boots...but I haven't done that in a while. We have traveled, by car, from Berlin to Lake Placid, to home in Colorado, Palm Springs, Lake Havasu, Vegas, Biosphere 2, Nashville, Ennis, Mt. Spokane, WA., Newport, Or., Brady, Tx. and more. I'm not bragging, I'm saying I openly admit these boots won't do everything, they've just done everything, admirably, that I've needed them to do.
I don't have any pictures, just look at a new pair.
Wore the backcountry boots boar hunting in Tennessee last weekend, walked 10 miles the first day through mountains, mud, water and rocks, you name it. They did great and my feet were not tired at all. The insoles definitely add a bit of comfort and help with longer walks. This is my second pair of Russell’s and would certainly recommend to anyone.
As described. Im certain that I will get many years of use out of it.ive never used a boot dryer before, so i guess we will have to wait and see if it has any effect on the longevity of my boots.
I’ve bought these for all my boots. I’ve punctured many boots from barbed wire fence to metal sticking out of the ground. These give me another layer of protection.

I purchased this to tighten up my boots and they worked perfectly. They also have made the boots a little softer to walk in. Definitely recommend these for anyone who’s boots might be a hair to be!
It’s a Legacy brand hat with Russel Moccasin’s embroidery on it. Besides the bacl of the hat sating made in the US, which this particular item is not, it’s a good hat and you know what youre getting. I would definitely buy it again as i love the art they put on the front. The canvas is a lighter brown than I thought upon looking at their photos online, bust it still looks good.
Beautiful belt. The leather is top notch. This belt will be braving the concrete jungle of NYC.
This is my third pair of Russell's. I started in 2019 with Chukkas, then Backcountry, and now Traveling Sportsman. I was measured at the Dallas Safari Club convention for the first and used those measurements for the second. I used the measuring app for the Sportsman which gave me a full size smaller than my Brannock size.
The Sportsman fits just fine. What a beautiful, solid feeling, and comfortable boot/shoe. It is not a light boot, feels like it could go anywhere short of high mountains, and yet is classy enough to wear to meetings at offices and goes well with jeans, work pants, and khaki dress pants. The laces are on the short side but work. I look forward to wearing them for many years.
Still wear a pair of custom Art Carter Traveling Sportsman Chukkas made in veal leather in the 1990’s. Very comfortable.
I wear them three seasons at least once every 10 days and they still look like new. Just clean them and put a coat of Pecards or Obenaufs water proofing on occasionally. Mine are a tan colour. Great shoe.
Russell Moccasin you did it again! These Joe's PH boots in chocolate bison with the coffee twill turned out absolutely beautiful! If you are looking for a quality, hand made boot, it doesn't get any better than this. The soles are quiet and very grippy. The inside of the boot hugs your feet, NO pinch. I was looking for a daily wear boot I could also take hiking. Russell definitely delivered. I plan on getting a pair of the bird shooters as well. I am a customer for life.
I bought a cotton quartered pair in 1977 for a 6 month trip to Kenya. Soles and heels completely wore out and counters tipped from constant wetting and drying (I wore them every day) and I had along a can of wax polish and a rag so I could shine them up to masquerade as dress shoes for entrance into nice restaurants. I can see how the double vamp would be an advantage. PS: while thorns gave me many flat tires they never got through my boots!!!
The best boot I have worn yet. I have a PH on the way and these make me more excited for the ones coming!
I hope Russell brings back the Lactae Havea soles they used for a while. It would make these perfect.
Love the belt so far. Is very attractive and perfectly matches my walnut timberjack fishing oxfords. It has a nice thickness and is very tough. The leather has yet to mark up at all, even when having it tight around my waist which is one thing I look for in a good belt.
Great hat, got a compliment from my dad - the king of baseball caps - so it was high praise.
