This was my fourth pair of Russell’s. I have been wearing them for 22 years. My feet have changed a little over the years and I went up a half size for more toe room. I was glad I did and am very happy with that aspect but……when I laced up my boots the uppers completely touched! No room for further adjustment as I wear and break in my boots. After a lot of contemplation I decided to keep my boots. I wanted to buy a summer boot and was excited to see that the safari boots were being offered. I called to see what could be done with my next pair of boots, could the uppers fit like my original pairs and why were my new ones so much bigger? I was told that they only have one size of uppers and they were not willing to make any adjustments for my next pair of boots. Russell’s big solution to fix the fit of an eight hundred dollar pair of boots was to spend another 40$ on a kiltey to take up space. Apparently my old boots were custom made, like they have been doing for 127 years, but not anymore. I decided not to place my order with filson…. I mean Russell. I saved $250 and ordered a custom pair of Gokey boots.
