The Boot
Developed for Safari clients in the 1960s, the famous Russell Bird Shooter was adapted with quarters made from heavyweight cotton twill and a low-drop sole for stalking. Ultra-lightweight and breathable, it was an instant success for long distance treks and dangerous game hunts. In 2011 Paul Stones, a PH who walks more than 1,200 miles per
year, requested that we make him a Safari Boot with the added protection, water-resistance, and comfort of our Double Vamp Construction. We have incorporated Paul's custom upgrades to be the new standard of the Russell Safari. This new variation combines the lightweight comfort of the original, while providing greater performance for day-to-day wear in a variety of scenarios.
The Leather
Made from water-resistant, Sage Chamois leather, the Safari is built to take on the African Bush. Wear and scuff resistant, Sage Chamois is as beautiful as it is tough. Condition with Pecards.Â
The Construction
The Safari is made with our famous Double Vamp Moccasin construction. You can learn more about this unique two-layer moccasin construction on our Process page. The Safari is 7" tall with Army Studs for quick lacing.
The Sole
Our Vibram 360 outsole and low-drop heel wedge provide the perfect platform for putting on the miles in total silence. The natural foot position along with the flexibility of the Safari design, makes it incredibly comfortable.Â
