The Boot
Introduced in the early 1900s, the Roosevelt Boot was originally known as the Chief. At the time it was Russell's most popular boot and was worn by Charles Lindbergh, Saxton Pope, and Art Young among others. The high top was designed for protection against brush and briars while hiking, fishing, and hunting. This special edition boot will benefit the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP) in its unyielding efforts to protect our natural resources and wildlife. Founded in 2002, the TRCP is the largest coalition of conservation organizations in the country, uniting and amplifying the voices of sportsmen and women by convening hunting and fishing groups, conservation organizations, and outdoor businesses to a common purpose. Handcrafted one at a time from American bison, also known as buffalo, the Roosevelt Boot is as functional as it is beautiful.Â

The Leather
American Bison is unique among leathers due to its combination of durability and softness. The natural pebbling brought out by the tanning process follows the contours of the hide’s grain resulting in varying pattern that is naturally stunning. These full-grain hides are tanned in Wisconsin at Law tannery. Stuffed with waxes and oils, Cognac Bison has a beautiful pull-up and is easily maintained with an occasional conditioning with Obenaufs.Â
The Construction
The Roosevelt is made with our famous Double Vamp Moccasin construction. This construction makes the lower part of the boot highly water-resistant and provides extra durability. The Roosevelt Boot is 15" tall and featured oak-leather heel counters.
The Sole
A hybrid sole construction is used on this boot, combining the midsole structure of the Backcountry with the mountain climbing capability of the Big Cambo. The Vibram Sierra outsole is mated to the boot via a rockered toe wedge. This combination helps protect the foot while hiking in rocky terrain, while also providing a tennis-shoe like stride on flat ground.
