The Boot
Cam Smith, from Mississippi, is an long-time customer who has ordered several unique Russell boots made specifically to guide Elk hunts in the Black Range of the Rocky Mountains. Cam requested adaptations to a model previously known as the Wapiti Rambler. This variant caught on with other serious outdoorsmen and the Big Cambo has been one of our most popular boots ever since. After several iterations over the last decade, the version offered today is 7-inches high, constructed in a Double Vamp with a Molded Sole (aka Triple Vamp) configuration for maximum support and water resistance. Additionally, the Big Cambo features a 1-1/2” padded collar to keep out rocks and dust, heel counters for side to side support, and Poron sock liners for added comfort. We also equipped the Big Cambo with non-glare antique bass eyelets and studs to help defeat the Wapiti’s keen eyesight. Just about everything in Russell's Kitchen sink has been built into these extreme boots, all while maintaining a weight of only 4.5lbs a pair (based on a size 10).

Big Cambo Premier Build - 6 / D
These are the highest quality, best looking, most comfortable boots on the planet. They are extremely comfortable right out of the box. These are my third pair of Russell’s and I will never buy another brand of boots again. I can’t say enough about Russell’s, I love them! They arrived almost exactly 8 weeks after i ordered them.
This is my second pair of Russell's and they are better than I expected. My first pair are Joe's PH and they're extremely lightweight and comfortable, almost barefoot style. I wanted a pair of more substantial boots for rougher terrain hunting and hiking. I live, work,& hunt in a part southwest Texas that's covered in sharp rocks and thorns. The representative I spoke with recommended the Pecos leather as it is the toughest Russell Moccasin has to offer and they were correct. These Pecos Cambo's started a lot stiffer than my Joe's PH, but after some wear and a conditioning the leather is nice and supple. It is also noticeably thicker and the brush and jagged rocks have not caused any damage besides light scratches that disappear after a conditioning. The build quality is excellent as to be expected. After a minor, blister free, break in they are extremely comfortable and lighter on the feet than their felt heft would suggest. I purchased my Joe's PH several years ago before the new ownership and price increase. I'm not necessarily happy with the new pricing, but these Big Cambo's are worth every penny in my opinion. The quality control and craftsmanship is just as good, if not better now than before. I doubt this will be my last pair of Russell Moccasins.
Received my Big Cambo build and am very pleased.
I used the online sizing method and it was spot on.
The shoes are very well made.
Extremely comfortable and feel fantastic on my feet.
If you are on the edge, just get a pair you will be happy with the decision.
I had a pair of insulated Big Cambos before you guys acquired the Company. I couldn’t resist getting an uninsulated pair when they popped up on the Premier build list. I was a little nervous about ordering not being able to use my custom measurements that were previously on file. I took a chance and ordered a stock size. They fit fine, but I miss the personal interaction of the measurement events. I see you are trying to get those going. Good strategy! It’s a great boot with all the extras. BTW I’m Cam’s Daddy! I’ve had a pair of original Bowhunters for 25 years. Still my go tos. Keep the grad ion going. Dr. Hugh Smith
