Cognac Bison leather with a Vibram Sierra wedged outsole.
Cam Smith, from Mississippi, is an long-time customer who has ordered several unique Russell boots made specifically to guide Elk hunts in the Black Range of the Rocky Mountains. Cam requested adaptations to a model previously known as the Wapiti Rambler. This variant caught on with other serious outdoorsmen and the Big Cambo has been one of our most popular boots ever since. After several iterations over the last decade, the version offered today is 7-inches high, constructed in a Double Vamp with a Molded Sole (aka Triple Vamp) configuration for maximum support and water resistance. Additionally, the Big Cambo features a 1-1/2” padded collar to keep out rocks and dust, heel counters for side to side support, and Poron sock liners for added comfort. To tackle the steep, rocky terrain the Big Cambo is fitted with aggressive Vibram Sierra soles and a structured wedge midsole with a rocker toe. In scree fields, this structured midsole allows you to stand on jagged rocks without discomfort. The rocker toe feature gives a rolling motion when walking and allows the sole to be as close as possible to the body's natural depth perception, so that you can take precise steps without tripping. We also equipped the Big Cambo with non-glare antique bass eyelets and studs to help defeat the Wapiti’s keen eyesight. Just about everything in Russell's Kitchen sink has been built into these extreme boots, all while maintaining a weight of only 4.5lbs a pair (based on a size 10).
The Big Cambo is ideal for mountain hiking, hunting, and backpacking. Due to the structure of the midsole, it is also great for jagged terrain or worksites at any elevation. The Triple Vamp construction in addition to the leather lined quarters provides 4 season protection while still regulating heat well in the summer.
