All of our boots and shoes are true moccasin construction, which consists of a flat foot bed with no cushioned insole along with either one, two, or three layers of leather underneath your feet depending on the style chosen. Due to the moccasin construction of our boots and shoes we are unable to build around orthotics/inserts. A moccasin is meant to mold to your feet, orthotics prevent that from happening. If you need some cushioning in your boots/shoes we have a black poron slip sole that can be added to double and triple vamp boots and shoes, as well as our double moccasin bottom construction. For single vamp boots and shoes, a poron sock lining can be added. Also keep in mind if you have bunions, hammer toes, wide feet, high instep etc...we have to customize the last. There is a special work charge of $15-$75.00 depending on how much your last needs to be customized. Thank you.
How we assure you a PERFECT fit
We carry a large, varied assortment of lasts to provide the flexibility to fit feet of unusual size and shape. When necessary, Russell will custom design a last for hard to fit or odd shaped feet. If you have a bunion or a sore spot on your foot, we will build the last up to allow extra room in sensitive areas. There is a "special charge" that comes with building up your personal last. This charge will be added to your order acknowledgement under special work.
For extra wide or extra narrow feet a special last can be ordered at an average price of $150.00 and saved for your future orders.
Measurements and Tracings
You must have someone else do your measurements and tracings, you cannot do them yourself. These all have to be mailed in, they cannot be e-mailed or faxed in.
Fit issues we can work with
What we can do: We can fit big feet, wide feet, narrow feet. We can allow for bunions, hammer toes, high insteps.
Fit issues that don’t work with moccasin construction
What we are not: We are not an orthopedic shoe company. Our construction is not compatible if you wear braces, or orthotics/inserts, have swollen feet or neuropathy. Moccasin construction is meant to mold to your feet. Some orthotics are so rigid that they do not allow the boot/shoe to fit your feet in the correct manner. If you need cushioning we have a black memory foam called a poron slip sole for double, triple and double moccasin bottom construction. It is inserted between the vamps so it is something you feel, you do not see it. For single vamp construction we have a poron insert which is inserted on top of the foot bed, you see and feel it.
We find a lot of times we have problems fitting customers if your feet are extremely wide 6 E plus or extremely narrow AA plus as well. We will use our discretion on the sizing of very narrow and very wide feet.
Different Sized Feet?
If your feet are different sizes, this is not a problem. Many people's feet are different sizes. Russell will custom fit your boots or shoes to the exact size of each foot.
Measurements on File for 10 Years
Russell will keep your measurements on file for 10 years which will allow you to order additional pairs of boots or shoes by merely calling us or sending us an e-mail with your order instructions. If you are already on file at Russell but your feet have changed over the years due to overuse or weight loss or gain, it may be a good idea to take new, updated measurements and foot tracings prior to ordering.
