The Shoe
The Chukka fills that "what-should-l-wear" gap between a loafer and a boot. Comfortable and light for everyday wear but with enough height to keep out dirt and sand. Slips on and off easily and laces quickly. The Chukka's many uses will make it your favorite outdoor footwear.
The Leather
Made from water-resistant, full-grain Walnut Timberjack leather, the Chukka will take you on any adventure in the field. Over time it will patina and darken to a beautiful deep brown. Condition with Obenaufs or Pecards.
The Construction
Made as a Single Vamp moccasin on our 77 Last, the Chukka is made with boot-thickness leather to ensure durability in the long term. Unique to Russell Moccasin, this Chukka has a handsewn Overlap seam that provides structure and water resistance. Designed to go the distance, it features an oak leather midsole designed for resoling.
The Sole
Vibram's 2060 cavity wedge has been a classic at Russell for the Chukka model. The soft gumlite compound is excellent for walking and daily wear. It provides a level of comfort that would be hard matched by any other sole in our arsenal.

Russell Chukka Classic Build
This review might not make much difference because today I learned Russell was removing this classic build chukka from their line up for a while. First, the online measuring app was spot on. Out of the box, these chukkas felt a bit snug in the width (D) but after a couple wears that was no longer a concern. The only problem I had was the fourth toe of both feet rubbing against the top of the toe box. After walking about 10 or 12 miles, that’s no longer a problem, either. My feet definitely appreciate the bottom-up, versus the top-down, construction of these boots. It’s like the leather is wrapping around my feet as I break them in. The Vibram 2060 sole adds to the overall comfort by absorbing a lot of the impact of my feet on the sidewalk. Finally, these chukkas are lightweight but sturdy and a breeze to put on and take off. If you’re looking for a quality shoe made in the USA, but isn’t a six-inch plus heritage style boot, pull the trigger on this one.
