Seconds - Backcountry ^Sale

A couple of weeks before buying these boots, I had purchased a different pair of Russell boots (Birdshooters, non-factory-second) in size 12.5. They fit me perfectly. I purchased that same size in this boot and it was way too big, much larger than my other pair in the exact same size. Due to Russell’s policy, I was not able to return them. I didn’t realize sizing would be affected by these being a factory second, and now I am out $550 with a pair of boots I can’t wear. I understand why this policy is in place, but Russell can and should do better.

My fault really. I bought a pair of seconds as my first foray into Russell boots. They’re really amazing, just completely enormous. I used the app, which sized me down to a 10, but my feet slop around enough that they’re unusable. You can’t exchange seconds, so I saved $200 only to spend $550 on a pair of boots I will never wear. The boot itself is 5 stars. Genuinely beautiful. My experience is 1. Average 3.

The boots are very comfortable. The eyelets on one of the boots are out of sorts, which makes them seconds. Although funny looking, they are usable. My biggest concern is the stitching on the front of the boot . It’s already slightly frayed after 4-5 days of pheasant hunting. I’m hopeful that the stitches don’t quickly get a lot worse. I’m not sure if you recommend some sort of hardener for the stitches, or not? Please let me know. I love the comfort of the boot- hoping that they will last.

Nice seconds pair with few minor niggles, some dried wax came out, few stains and basically after one wear as new! Sock feeling pair of boots, that have good ground feel without any discomfort of rocks of terrain. Already 40 miles in, a lot of smell, possible to strap very nicely!
