Bought these as summer hikers. However, I suspect they will become my go too boots for everything. They're comfortable straight out of the box with very minimal break in. They are also very lightweight and the leather is thin and breathable yet still supportive. The construction which includes a part gusseted tongue and oiled leather means they are fairly water resistant (will withstand rain and puddles) though I don't believe they have a double vamp construction and they aren't fully waterproof. Overall, no other hiking boot I've had comes close to being so versatile. Plus they still look great for casual wear when other hiking boots would look out of place. One suggestion for RM: how about an ultra breathable unlined version?
